Why is a healthy lifestyle important for university students?
Since students tend to focus on their coursework and various activities, it makes students underestimate a healthy lifestyle and prioritize their interests, so they are too young for diseases. Therefore, students should change their bad habits into healthy lifestyle habits for the sake of their body's health.
What are the factors that influence students to underestimate a healthy lifestyle?
Students who live in a boarding house or do not live with their parents tend to have an unhealthy lifestyle accompanied by the many tasks that must be done and several other activities that make students less aware of the importance of a healthy lifestyle. This causes many students to experience diabetes, insomnia, lung cancer, fever, and others. Therefore, to avoid unwanted diseases, students must start learning to apply the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Because a healthy lifestyle is an asset to our body, as the saying goes "It is better to prevent than to cure", it is better for us to live healthy until we are old than we suffer from disease at a young age.
So what is the solution to make students want to change and realize the importance of implementing a healthy lifestyle for the body?
Actually, to implement a healthy lifestyle, the first thing that must be emphasized is to do it from the heart change our mindset, and have a sense of willingness to do it (not by force). In addition, it must also be done regularly and make it a priority and habit in daily life. Here are some solutions that can be applied by students to implement a healthy lifestyle:
1. Consume healthy food and drinks
Many students have the habit of consuming unhealthy foods and drinks such as cakes, junk food, soft drinks, and others. In addition, some students also apply a pattern of eating only once a day or even twice, it is due to limited money, many tasks, and time used for activities.
This lifestyle must be changed because it can make students feel weak and cause diseases that can interfere with lecture activities and other activities due to a lack of nutritional intake into the body. Therefore, students must begin to realize and change their mindset of how important it is to implement a healthy lifestyle.
2. Exercise regularly
Exercise is very important for our bodies to stay healthy and fit so that it can prevent diseases from coming to our bodies. However, many students are too lazy to exercise, this is because they have no sense of desire and are more concerned with priorities in life such as doing assignments or hanging out with friends. This makes students susceptible to diseases. Therefore, to prevent diseases from coming into our bodies, it is highly recommended that students discard laziness and make exercise a priority in their lives. Sports can be done such as push-ups, sit-ups, plank, yoga, aerobics, badminton, and others. The benefits of exercise are boosting your mood, giving you more energy, and building muscle.
3. Get enough rest
Students nowadays often take their rest time for granted. Sometimes they also sacrifice their sleep time to do assignments, watch Korean dramas, and others. This can make students susceptible to disease and make the performance of the mind decrease.
A good sleep pattern is very important for the body and brain to stay optimal and healthy. Students must be able to set a good sleep pattern by resting 7-9 hours a day. Good sleep patterns can improve strong memory, maintain immunity, maintain sugar levels in the body and maintain heart health.
4. No Smoking
Students are often found smoking. Smoking is not good for the health of the body, especially the lungs. It can lead to lung cancer at a young age. The average student dies because of smoking which causes his heart to weaken so that he experiences shortness of breath. Therefore students need to stop smoking to maintain a healthy body.
5. Adequate Body Fluids
Fluids are important for the human body, especially students who are often active every day. Without fluids, your body will become dehydrated, feel weak and your health will suffer. That is why experts recommend drinking 8 glasses of water per day to meet the body's fluid needs. However, many students underestimate the importance of drinking water to meet the body's fluid needs. The average student prefers to fill the stomach (prioritizing food) rather than water. Even though the benefits of water are important for the brain and can help you to be more focused, clear mind, and stay awake. In addition, fulfilling the needs of fluids in the body will be able to increase energy in the body. Here are some other important points that you should know about the importance of water for the body in addition to meeting the body's fluid adequacy:
1. Removes toxins in the body
2. Skin becomes healthier and brighter
3. Strengthens the immune system
4. Avoid kidney disease
